Senior Accountant

Responsibilities, included but not limited to:
  • Meticulously review AP invoices to ensure accurate and precise GL entries during AP close process.  Coordinate approvals from relevant departments and facilitate the Controller’s review of the AP schedule.  Take charge of scheduling AP payments ensuring timely and efficient transactions. 
  • Set up new vendors using vendor forms and issue purchase orders (after review), as applicable.
  • Maintain the general ledger of the company.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for Investments, fixed assets, prepaids, payroll, and various accruals.
  • During the monthly close process assist with clinical accruals.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations to close the books in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in accordance with US GAAP
  • Ensure accuracy of financial transactions and ensure processes align with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with SOX 404(a) testing of controls related to assigned areas and SEC reporting, as needed.
  • Assist with Quarterly and Annual external audits by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing information to the auditors.
  • Direct the preparation of schedules for the external audit related to their areas of responsibility.
  • Organize the preparation of the annual 1099 forms for the vendors as well as other areas of tax compliance.
  • Support the Controller with SEC reporting including preparation of support schedules and updating Wdesk SEC filing platform.
  • Compile detailed expense and cash flow forecasts for the consolidated budget on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist with Transfer Agent system and maintain common stock outstanding shares and tie out to filings. This includes supporting the Controller in maintaining the equity plan software system for accounting purposes (including the filing of Forms 3 and 4 for directors and officers) as well as its optionee features including tie ins to payroll and broker support.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements; 10K and 10Q F-section including help in the footnotes as well.
  • Perform special projects and ad hoc requests within the Accounting team, including policy and procedure documentation and data analysis to inform the business.
Requirements:
  • Required-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Required-CPA license.
  • Public accounting audit training and experience, ideally Big 4 preferred
  • 5+ years of experience (including 2+ years of public accounting experience).
  • Direct experience at a life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical company required.
  • Full-cycle A/P experience required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with SEC Regulations and SOX compliance.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 Revenue recognition and AR management processes.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Computer literacy is required, with the ability to navigate computer systems with little or no assistance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook software specifically with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and meet deadlines despite distractions and changing priorities.
  • Must possess a prominent level of attention to detail and aptitude for planning and time management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written).
  • Strong ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels.
